Abstract: Career Connection Workshop - Fine tune your job search process
Instead of a regular chapter meeting, the September meeting is focusing on presentation and discussions around improving the effectiveness of Job search process. In this meeting, a panel of experts will provide insight into direction of Project Management profession and skill set, resume development, excellence and behavioral aspects of interview process, networking essentials, networking tools, use of LinkedIn etc, volunteering for success & insight from successful volunteers. Come join us for an evening of information and networking.
The workshop will be facilitated by Sadu Shetty, Vice President of Programs, Dayton/Miami valley PMI.
Panel:
Fred Eck: Director Human Resources; CDO Technologies, Inc. Fred has over 30 years of Human Resources experience in a variety of industries, including IT, automotive, heavy manufacturing and higher education. His areas of responsibility have included recruitment and retention, compensation and benefits administration, labor relations, safety and administration, and change management at the plant, division and corporate level. In addition to his professional experience, he has been an active volunteer leader in the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) at the local, state and regional level.
Andrew Kern: Director of Program Management, Planning and PMO at WellPoint, a fortune 100 company. He manages a team of directors, business consultants and project managers. Drew Kern has been working in project management for 12 years. He began as a project manager for a major system conversion implementation for 82 office locations with Communicare Health Services in 1998 after holding a variety of positions as Director of Operations leading teams for both Long Term Care and Home Health Care companies. He has worked in Software Implementations supporting integrated client G/L, Payroll, Case Management, and Billing systems. Since 2004 he has held progressive positions at Wellpoint within the project management career path including support of Life & Disability, eBusiness, and most recently the Integrated Pharmacy segment.
Apryl Van Oss: Director of ePMO, Reed Elsevier Technology Solutions. Apryl began her career in project management at LexisNexis in 2000 and received her PMP certification in September of 2005. She has been a member of PMI since May, 2005. During her time with LexisNexis and the subsequent technology company Reed Elsevier Technology Services (RETS), Apryl led a dedicated team to establish a Project Management Office focused on implementing world-wide enterprise technologies to support multiple development companies within Reed Elsevier.

"Volunteering success" by Alan Dyke: Director Website Services of Dayton/Miami Valley PMI. Alan holds the PMP credential and is currently a Senior Consultant with Sogeti on assignment at LexisNexis. Alan has 10+ years of Project Management experience and 10+ years as an Engineer deploying Telecommunication networks. Alan's Project Management experience covers areas including software and hardware development projects for Government agencies, numerous IT infrastructure build and expansion projects, Data Center relocation projects, and service enablement for outsourcing and off shoring efforts. "Volunteering success" by John Sullivan: Past VP of Communications of Dayton/Miami Valley PMI. John Sullivan is a certified PMP with 20+ years of Project Management experience. John has been a Contributing Editor to PM Network, magazine of the Project Management Institute, where he writes the "Career Portfolio" column. He has published numerous professional articles in a number of business magazines and websites, including Computerworld, Gannthead.com, and the Wall Street Journal's Careers.com website. "Success by judging projects" by Dev Nanda: VP of University Outreach & Immediate Past Vice President of Membership of Dayton/Miami Valley PMI. Dev Nanda manages the Dayton PMI outreach programs. He is a Senior Project Manager at MedPlus.
Professional Development Units: All attendees will earn one Professional Development Unit (PDU) for use towards the Project Management Professional (PMP) recertification.
